The trip to Duluth this weekend was by far on of the craziest trips I have been on since this summer.
Since the beginning of this school year, I have been telling an old classmate that I would be coming to stay with him for a weekend at his campus apartment at UMD. My best friend Celleste told me on Monday that she was gonna be headed in that direction to see a couple bands play and she offered to let me ride with if i split gas with her.
The 5 hour drive went by really fast, I was sleeping in the passengers seat most of the time trying to sober up after having a couple too many shots at the beginning of the trip.
I hadn’t been to Duluth since 8th grade when I went on a canoe trip at the boundary waters by the Canadian border. The canoe trip was pretty fun but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had gone with a group of friends.
When I got to Jeremy’s apartment the first thing we did was get our things together to go snowboarding at Spirit Mountain. For the past 3 years I have been going to Big Sky Resort in Montana to go snowboarding so I was’t expecting the snowboarding in Duluth to be anything special, but the terrain park was actually better than the one I was used to in Montana. I made the whole day without falling once, up until I hit the step up jump without slowing down and caught an edge when landing, causing me to take a pretty good tumble.
The rest of the weekend consisted of sleeping during the day and partying at night. I met tons of people that went to UMD and the nearby school St.Scholastica, they all seemed pretty laid back and really liked going to school in Duluth. This Spring I’m planning on taking a tour of the school to decide if I want to go to Duluth next fall.
